E-vignette (e-vinjeta) for travelers in Slovenia

Tolls in Slovenia are paid with a digital vignette that is linked to your license plate, so there is no sticker to collect and nothing to display in the windscreen. It is required on every motorway and expressway marked with an “A” or an “H”, and can be bought for 1 week, 1 month or 1 year (6 months for motorcycles). Pick the class that matches your vehicle below; the price changes with the vehicle height over the first axle. Confirmation is instant and your order is completed within 2 minutes.

2A: Cars and camper vansCars up to 3.5t with a height over the first axle of less than 1.3 metres or camper vans up to 3.5t
2B: VansTotal weight up to 3.5t and height over the first axle greater than 1.3 metres

Where the Slovenian vignette applies

Tolls in Slovenia are paid with a digital vignette (e-vinjeta) for every vehicle up to 3.5 t gross weight. It is required on more than 600 kilometres of motorways and expressways — every road marked with an “A” or an “H”, slip roads included. The vignette is linked to your license plate, so there is no sticker to place in the windscreen.

How the vehicle classes work

Slovenia splits light vehicles into three classes. The class depends on the height measured over the first axle and on whether the vehicle is a motorcycle. Buying a vignette for a lighter class than your vehicle counts as driving without one during a check.

Vehicles up to 3.5 t

Class 1Motorcycles and trikes with a track narrower than 50 cm
Class 2ACars and camper vans up to 3.5 t with a height over the first axle below 1.3 m
Class 2BVans up to 3.5 t with a height over the first axle of 1.3 m or more

Heavy vehicles

Class 3Vehicles over 3.5 t gross weight — charged per kilometre, not with a vignette

Validity periods you can choose

Cars and vans can be covered for 1 week, 1 month or 1 year. Motorcycles choose between 1 week, 6 months or 1 year. The weekly and monthly vignettes run from the start date you pick, and the annual one is valid for twelve consecutive months.

Validity is counted in Slovenian local time (CET/CEST). If your trip starts the next morning, select tomorrow as the start date in the next step.

What the price depends on

Two things decide the price: your vehicle class and the length of validity. A van (class 2B) costs roughly twice as much as a car, while motorcycles are the cheapest class. All prices in this checkout are shown in your own currency, converted at the current rate, and include our service fee.

Karawanks tunnel

The Karawanks tunnel between Slovenia and Austria is charged separately at the toll plaza and is not covered by the vignette. The same applies to a handful of other individually tolled structures, so keep a card ready if your route uses them.

Where you can buy it

A Slovenian e-vignette can be bought at fuel stations near the border, at some kiosks, or online. Ordering online before you leave means your plate is registered in advance, you skip the queues at the border, and you keep a proper e-mail receipt and invoice. Your confirmation arrives by e-mail within minutes of paying.

Checks and fines

Compliance is checked by camera gantries and by roadside patrols reading plates. Using a Slovenian motorway without a valid vignette leads to a fine issued per offence, so repeated passages can each be charged separately.

Changes, transfers and cancellations

A Slovenian e-vignette cannot be transferred to another vehicle and normally cannot be cancelled once it is active. A mistyped plate can usually be corrected, and the start date can be moved while the vignette has not started yet. Add the Flex option at checkout and we handle changes or cancellation for you up to 24 hours before the start date.

Who is exempt

Vehicles over 3.5 t are not covered by the vignette at all — they pay a distance-based toll with an on-board unit. Emergency vehicles and vehicles of people with disabilities holding a valid Slovenian exemption are also excluded.

Neighbouring countries with a toll

If your route continues past Slovenia, remember that these neighbours also charge for motorway use. You can add them to the same order, or read more on each country page:
