E-vignette (dálniční známka) for travelers in the Czech Republic

Czech motorways (dálnice) are paid with a fully digital vignette linked to your license plate, so there is no sticker to collect and nothing to display in the windscreen. It can be bought for 1 day, 10 days, 1 month or 1 year, and the annual one runs 365 days from the start date you pick. Motorbikes are exempt, and low-emission vehicles pay a reduced rate. Pick the class that matches your vehicle below; the price also depends on your fuel type. Confirmation is instant and your order is completed within 2 minutes.

Toll roads in the Czech Republic

All Czech motorways (dálnice) and the expressway sections that form part of the motorway network require a vignette. Around 1 300 kilometres are tolled today. The vignette is fully digital and linked to your license plate, so there is no sticker to collect and nothing to display in the windscreen — a camera check is enough.

Main tolled motorways

D0Prague ring road (tolled outside the exempt city sections)
D1Prague — Brno — Ostrava
D2Brno — Břeclav (Slovak border)
D5Prague — Plzeň — Rozvadov (German border)
D8Prague — Ústí nad Labem — Dresden
D11 / D35 / D46 / D48 / D52 / D55Regional motorway and expressway sections

A number of sections are permanently exempt, mostly urban stretches around Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Plzeň, plus short link roads to the border. First- and second-class roads never require a vignette.

Vignette rules for vehicles up to 3.5 t

The vignette covers every vehicle with a total permitted weight up to 3.5 tonnes, including campervans and minibuses. A light trailer or caravan towed by such a vehicle is included and does not need a vignette of its own. Motorbikes are exempt in the Czech Republic.

Fuel type and discounts

The Czech vignette price depends on the fuel type of your vehicle. Low-emission vehicles pay a reduced rate and zero-emission vehicles are exempt entirely, so pick the correct fuel type at checkout — it is registered together with your plate.

Prices and validity periods

You can choose between the following validity periods:

  • 1 day
  • 10 days
  • 1 month
  • 1 year

The annual vignette is valid for 365 days from the start date you choose, not per calendar year. Shorter periods start on the selected date and run to midnight of the final day. Prices in this checkout are shown in your own currency, converted at the current rate, and include our service fee.

Toll rules for lorries and buses

Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are not covered by the vignette. They pay a distance-based electronic toll calculated from the kilometres driven, the number of axles and the emission class, settled with an on-board unit that must be registered before entering the motorway.

Where to buy

Vignettes are sold at petrol stations and post offices near the border, but ordering online before you leave registers your plate in advance, saves you the queue at the crossing and gives you a proper e-mail receipt and invoice within minutes of paying.

Fines

Enforcement runs automatically through camera gantries and mobile patrols. Driving without a valid vignette leads to a fine many times the price of an annual vignette, issued to the registered keeper — foreign-registered vehicles included.

Transfers, plate changes and start date

A Czech vignette is tied to one license plate and cannot be transferred to another vehicle. The plate can only be corrected in narrow cases and never after the vignette has become valid.

The start of validity cannot be postponed after purchase. Pick the correct start date at checkout, or add the Flex option and we handle changes and cancellations for you up to 24 hours before the vignette becomes valid.

Who is exempt

  • Motorbikes and mopeds
  • Fully electric and hydrogen vehicles
  • Emergency, police, fire and military vehicles
  • Vehicles over 3.5 t, which pay the distance-based toll instead
  • Vehicles of disabled persons registered for a Czech exemption

Tolls in neighbouring countries

If your route continues past the Czech Republic, these neighbours also charge for motorway use. You can add them to the same order, or read more on each country page:
